A New Rose Takes Root at the Dushanbe Teahouse

June 2nd, 2026

On May 28, community members, partners, volunteers, and friends of the Dushanbe Teahouse gathered for a special occasion: the planting of the newly named 'Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse' Rose.

Developed by the Rocky Mountain Rose Lab, this commemorative rose was created specifically for the Teahouse garden and serves as a living tribute to the people and partnerships that have made the Teahouse one of Boulder’s most beloved landmarks.

The rose features pure white petals surrounding deep red stamens, blooms repeatedly throughout the season, and has demonstrated remarkable resilience in Colorado's climate. While bred locally in Colorado, its character was inspired by the wild roses of Tajikistan, reflecting the cultural connection at the heart of the Teahouse itself.

The ceremony celebrated the many individuals and organizations whose dedication has helped the Teahouse flourish over the years, including:

  • The Boulder–Dushanbe Sister Cities relationship, whose spirit of friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchange gave rise to the extraordinary architectural gift that now stands beside Central Park.

  • The Boulder Valley Rose Society and the many volunteers who have lovingly established and maintained the surrounding rose gardens, creating a welcoming landscape reminiscent of traditional gardens found throughout Tajikistan.

  • Three Leaf Concepts, whose hospitality and culinary stewardship continue to make the Teahouse a gathering place for visitors from around the world.

The newly planted rose has been officially registered with the American Rose Society and now joins the Teahouse gardens as a lasting symbol of international friendship, community collaboration, and peace.

As it grows and blooms in the seasons ahead, the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse Rose will serve as a living reminder of the connections that unite our communities across continents and generations.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who joined us for this memorable celebration and to all those who continue to support and care for this remarkable place.

Visit the Teahouse gardens throughout the summer to see the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse Rose in bloom.
