September 8-25, 2008 — Travel to Dushanbe and Central Asia


Tour of Central Asia and Dushanbe to celebrate over twenty years of friendship between our sister cities, Boulder and Dushanbe, and the gift of the Cyber Cafe to Dushanbe. We'll have a cup of tea and surf the web at the new Dushanbe Cyber Cafe.

We are completing the planning for the 17-day trip. Our tentative itinerary includes (see the Important Documents below for more details):

Depart Denver (DIA) Monday, Sep 8 (late afternoon)

Day 1, Wed, Sep 10 • Arrive Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Day 2, Thu, Sep 11 • Tashkent

Day 3, Fri, Sep 12 • Tashkent • drive to Khujand, Tajikistan, where the Tajik Artists Fund created much of the artwork for our the Boulder Teahouse

Day 4, Sat, Sep 13 • Khujand • daytrip to Istaravshan, Tajikistan, tour ancient Tajik city

Day 5, Sun, Sep 14 • Khujand • drive to Tashkent

Day 6, Mon, Sep 15 • Tashkent • fly to Bukhara, Uzbekistan, stay and tour in ancient city

Day 7, Tue, Sep 16 • Bukhara

Day 8, Wed, Sep 17 • Bukhara

Day 9, Thu, Sep 18 • Bukhara • drive to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, tour historical parts of city

Day 10, Fri, Sep 19 • Samarkand

Day 11, Sat, Sep 20 • Samarkand • drive to Penjikent, Tajikistan. city tour including Sogdian ruins, continue to Aini.

Day 12, Sun, Sep 21 • Aini • drive to Dushanbe, Tajikistan ground transportation through the Pamir mountains

Day 13, Mon, Sep 22 • Dushanbe • visit Cyber Cafe, local tours

Day 14, Tue, Sep 23 • Dushanbe

Day 15, Wed, Sep 24 • Dushanbe

Day 16, Thu, Sep 25 • Depart Dushanbe

Arrive Denver Thursday, Sep 25 (late evening)

Mid-May TBD, 2008, 3:00PM — 2nd Travel Payment due to BDSC


$2750 per person -- (approx.) economy class air portion
(refundable/changeable per airline policies only)

Final air cost per person TBD--do NOT send checks until final cost announced.
Additional costs apply for upgrades and flight plan deviations.
