The Teahouse Gift

The Boulder-Dushanbe Teahouse, a gift from the people of Dushanbe, is owned by the City of Boulder on behalf of the people of Boulder.

Visit the
Boulder-Dushanbe Teahouse Café Website

The City of Boulder leases the Teahouse building (1770 13th Street) to a restauranteur who manages the Teahouse as a restaurant business. A portion of the lease fees go into a reserve fund for the long-term maintenance of the Teahouse. Additional funds from the lease are used to pay back a partial contruction loan used for the transport of artistic Teahouse components from Dushanbe and the assembly of the structure in Boulder. When the original loan is paid off, in approximately 2015, the proceeds of the lease will then go toward paying off partial construction loans made by Boulder citizens for completion of the Cyber Café in Dushanbe.

Boulder restaurant proprietors Lenny and Sara Martinelli, dBA Huckleberry Foods, Inc., currently hold the lease for the Teahouse business. Visit their restaurant's website: www.boulderteahouse.com for more information on the Teahouse. The Martinellis and Huckleberry Foods have been great supporters of Boulder-Dushanbe Sister Cities, donating time, money, and fundraising events toward the Cyber Café project. Their long-term support is greatly appreciated!
