As a Boulder resident, Erin feels a strong connection to our Sister City and wishes to pay special attention to Dushanbe on this trip. The team will explore issues specifcally relating to women and girls as well as the physical path traveled by Alexander the Great and Marco Polo in search of the riches and culture of the Far East. Through the windshields of their off-road motorcycles they plan to learn the secrets of silk farming, the art of tea rituals, and witness the raw beauty of present day trading markets dotted along the Silk Road. They will be creating a documentary film that will allow them to share their experiences and introduce this amazing part of Central Asia to many others. Prior to departure they plan to partner with youth organizations from their representative countries and with aid projects that they will visit along the Silk Road. The goal is to build lasting relationships that will facilitate an exchange of knowledge and culture for years to come. Through updated website journals, podcasts, articles, and film documentation they will share everything they see, hear, touch, taste and feel. They hope to create virtual lessons for school children from around the world to follow their adventure and ask real time questions. These female adventure motorcyclists plan to use their expedition to connect others around the world to this precious part of our shared world heritage, and bring lasting attention to the ongoing needs along the world’s most famous trading route. It will be the adventure of a lifetime! Follow their journey at www.mundomotodiva.com. |
